X35G: Install Ubuntu on M.2 2280 SATA SSD

Hi,

I have the X35G (with Intel Core i3-1005G1 CPU) from Amazon and I want to install Ubuntu.

I installed a M.2 2280 SATA SSD (Samsung 970 EVO Plus 250 GB) in the additional M.2 SATA slot, but the Ubuntu installer says:

Turn of RST
You need to turn off RST before installing Ubuntu

The help page (help.ubuntu.com/rst) says:

- Turning RST off completely in BIOS
- Changing the storage controller protocol from RST to Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI)

But I cannot find both options in the BIOS!

What can I do?

After my test. First of all, ubuntu can be installed on M.2 2280 SATA SSD.

How did you do that? What is the trick?

Optane memory does not support Ubuntu. If you are sure to install Ubuntu, please remove Optane memory.

Thanks @joey, but the Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD has no Optane memory.

It works when installed in the NVMe slot, so I could install Ubuntu on it.

Oh, the original amsung 970 EVO Plus SSD is Nvme SSD. Thank you for your reminder.
