Solve the Ubuntu16.04 upgrade to 18.04 and 18.10 WiFi can not be used.

The above fix works, but you must rename the .txt file to have only one .txt extension. That is the file should end up as brcrcmfmac43455-sdio.txt.

The file linked above ( brcmfmac43455-sdio.txt) contains a few characters from a Windows (?) editing session. Toward the bottom of the file are two stray ^M (carriage return) control characters. Take these out...

This didn't actually work for me. If it doesn't, do you have any next tips for debugging the issue?
same goes for mine I got wifi to work intermittently by adding a few lines to the config file still not working 100 percent and Bluetooth still fails.

i'm running xubuntu 20.04, installation worked out of the box wihout any bios settings changes, but wlan was missing

dos2unix on brcmfmac43455-sdio.txt fixes the issue with line endings, putting the file into /lib/firmware/brcm does the job.
However after a reboot, the brcmfmac driver is still claiming that no clm_blob is available:
[ 8.268696] brcmfmac: brcmf_fw_alloc_request: using brcm/brcmfmac43455-sdio for chip BCM4345/6
[ 8.268842] usbcore: registered new interface driver brcmfmac
[ 8.373509] brcmfmac: brcmf_fw_alloc_request: using brcm/brcmfmac43455-sdio for chip BCM4345/6
[ 8.373599] brcmfmac: brcmf_c_process_clm_blob: no clm_blob available (err=-2), device may have limited channels available

actually I have found the file here:

after copying this file everything seems to work:
[ 8.398868] brcmfmac: brcmf_fw_alloc_request: using brcm/brcmfmac43455-sdio for chip BCM4345/6
