Is this the best Forum to post for GN31 (Celeron J3710) w/Win 10?

I do not see a Forum specifically for the GN31, but several posts for that device appear in this Forum. Some GN31 posts are in other Forums.

Since the previous CPU of GN31 was 3160, it has now been upgraded to 3710, so it is currently the forum of GN31.

Having issues with GN31 with the 128GB HOODISK. Windows crashed beyond repair after the 20H2 update. Have tried reinstalling using BLT-JX-MINIPC-M6JR120-BA85B-111-A and the directions found here https://bbs.minisforum.com/threads/gn31-windows-10-pro-1903-system-and-drive.1279/ It does what the video shows for about 5 to 10 minutes then reboots or hanges up. I've tried cleaning the SSD Drive with various Bootable USB drives and utilities - same thing. Runs for about 5 minutes or so and reboots. Any ideas??? This is what I see when using the GN31 Windows 10 Pro System File Install if it doesn't just reboot.IMG_1271[1].jpg

I know I'm driving you nuts with this, but now I cant get any video even to the Minisforum Splash screen. I've started on both the HDMI port and the VGA port. Just a blank screen. Tried leaving it unplugged for hours, holding the power button in for 30 seconds, etc. I also took everything out, all USB connections, network ... Any ideas? Thanks

I've tried tons of reboots, with and without a video cable (vga or hdmi), pulled the CMOS battery for an hour, held down the power button long enough to shut it down and reboot, Did the power button reset, nothing. Fan spins, see the blue LED light, but no video. You have any old motherboards of this model you need to get rid of? SN# - see pic

It is not recommended that you update to 20H2, because we have not made an adaptation yet. Please try the old version installation. Thank you.

That's what started all this off. I was already having some issues with the GN31 rebooting intermittently before the 20H2 update was released. But, when it did release Windows 10 Update automatically attempted to install the 20H2 overnight and I'm guessing the PC did one of its intermittent shut downs during the update which corrupted Windows. After many attempts to fix with the Windows 10 Media Tool I finally contacted you and you gave me the install files and guide. However, now, instead of being able to only boot to BIOS about every 3rd try it wont boot to BIOS at all. I have no video whatsoever. Before that, I was able to see the Minisforum Splash Screen and get into the BIOS but usually after 2 or 3 power cycle attempts. So, I'm guessing the motherboard is now defective (the fan turns on and the blue led turns on, but that's it). I've only had this PC since September 2019 and, of course, Amazon has basically told me "tough luck". I have 3 more of these and this is the only one that had done this. I had one other that had a fan fail and I found one that fit on Amazon and its worked ever since.

You can try to replace other power adapters to check whether it will automatically restart.

Okay, I just did that. I swapped the power supply with one of the others. The other machine booted up normally and this one was the same result. Blue LED lit up, fan was spinning, no video. I also tried multiple times trying both VGA and HDMI ports.

Joey - all good now! Thank you. The battery socket short worked. I have installed Windows 10 and the drivers you provided. Everything seems to be working normally now. Thanks again!

I did want to give you one update. Since the Windows 20H2 version will be shoved down our throats at some point I decided to build a USB Boot Disk with Microsofts new Media Creation Tool. When you download that tool now the 20H2 version is all that's available on Microsoft's site. So, the install instructions you provided are slightly different now - the only option you really have when starting is to delete all hard drive partitions. However, I was able to install the drivers you provided and Windows activated with the digital license as well. After all that I download and installed the Intel Driver & Support Assistant and allowed it to update everything Intel. So, the 20H2 Windows version is running just fine on my GN31. Thanks again!
