Interesting: "Front USB delivering >10GBit/s? Yes USB4/Thunderbolt 4 enclosure (both usb ports)= 3128 MB/s (24.87Gbps) "

Can you let us know your setup in detail? (cable, housing) For me it´s not working even though on my old machine I had a 20GBIT/s setup (cable, Housing LC 2x2, nvme) with a seperate card.

EDIT: even not working with new Lenovo Laptop with USB4 port while on my old machine with extension card it worked with same setup

My Cable: Cabletex
USB 4 Gen3x2 USB-C Cable | Thunderbolt 3 | PD 240 Watt | Monitorcable| 5A | 48V | 40 GBit/s DataTransfer | bidirectional

Does anyone know if maybe a driver must be updated - if so which one?
Or maybe a BIOS Setting topic?

The full details are here; Issue with frontal usb4 frontal connectors

and includes;

Update: With crystaldiskmark read speeds are;

Sata enclosure = 450 MB/s
USB 3.2 enclosure = 990 MB/s
Thunderbolt 3 enclosure = 1660 MB/s
USB4/Thunderbolt 4 enclosure (both usb ports)= 3128 MB/s

Sata is an Amazon nobrand with 2.5" Samsung drive, connecting to usb A
USB 3.2 (EC-SNVE) and Thunderbolt 3 (EC-T3NS) are both Sabrent with pcie gen3 nvme drive connecting to usb-c
USB 4 / Thunderbolt 4 is ACASIS (TBU401) with pcie gen4 nvme drive connecting to usb-c

I replaced the internal drive with two Western Digital pcie gen4 drives and get 6968 MB/s with both slots.

No extra drivers or bios settings were changed.

Thanks BigJeff - but still I don´t know why my cube (which works else super great) is that slow or the combination causes an issue. Not a big thing since I only need it when saving to extern NVME from time to time.

May I ask you to check the device manager for USB4 ?
Open Device Manager, Select "VIEW" by connection. Look for USB4 and what are your drivers.

When I go to event section I see the system says "something not migrated..blabla..." do you have that , too ?

Mine says it´s working

Here are the screen shots, my events do not contain any entries.

Also just noticed in the drive policies I have it set for quick removal.

To fix the 40gbit usb4 performance Minisforum shared a zip file which looks like a firmware update... Not sure if I should try and maybe make it even worse..
And why 32bit written there?

For me no, but I am Ok with my speeds.

If you really want faster speeds then I think you should do what Minisforum suggest and report what happens.

I ran it and it seemed to update. The problem is I don't really have anything to test with. Gotta love being beta testers!!!!
okay... :) well then hopefully anyone else can test. I have some hesitation it'll change my well running system... Actually I'm also not sure what this software updates or firmwares..? Any clue?

well its realtek. So I would assume there is a realtek usb chip on the board that gets the firmware updated. That is what I find when typing in realtek type-c

I found a usb-c hard drive enclosure. But I was only getting like 40 mb/s. Not really sure if its the USB speed from minisforum or the old usb-c enclosure I have. If I had to guess most likely my old crap I have. I also hooked up a usb-c to hdmi and that seemed to work fine. I have a sabrent enclosure that I ordered as I think there is something wrong with my current one. So we will see.
