N36 OS and Storage expansion options

Experts-
In the context of my N36:
If I install a 2TB SATA HDD, or an M.2 NGFF 2280 1TB expansion drive, do I need to clone my WIN 10 OS and install it on the new storage device? Or should I?
The only reason I can think to swap my OS to the bigger drive(s) is that WIN 10 could then create a larger virtual memory/swapfile/drive. Or am I concerned about nothing?
I just need more storage and want to maximize my OS headroom and efficiency.

N36 windows 10 is installed in eMMC 64G, you can directly expand SATA HDD and M.2 NGFF 2280, no need to clone win10,
